Product Overview
ASTM A240 409L cold rolled stainless steel sheet is a titanium-stabilized ferritic grade specifically developed for automotive exhaust system components and weldable applications requiring moderate corrosion and oxidation resistance. The titanium addition stabilizes the ferritic structure, preventing hardening and intergranular corrosion in the weld heat-affected zone, making 409L the most widely specified stainless steel for exhaust systems worldwide.
With lower chromium content (10.5-11.75%) compared to 430, 409L offers an optimal balance of performance and economy. The cold rolled 2B finish provides a smooth, uniform surface suitable for tube making, stamping, and forming operations.
