The expanded program covers plate thicknesses from 3.0mm to 60mm with No.1 finish, supported by mill test certificates to ASTM A240 / A480.
Duplex 2205 combines a balanced austenitic-ferritic microstructure that delivers approximately twice the yield strength of conventional 316L stainless steel, while offering excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking, pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-rich environments. These properties make it one of the most specified materials for seawater handling systems, desalination plants, offshore platforms and chemical tankers.
The desalination industry has grown rapidly in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia, where seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) and thermal desalination plants demand materials that can survive decades of exposure to concentrated brine. Duplex 2205 plates are widely used for evaporator shells, brine headers, high-pressure piping supports and structural frames where both strength and corrosion resistance are critical.
