SS 310 pipe is an austenitic stainless steel grade specifically designed for high-temperature applications. With excellent oxidation resistance and good strength at elevated temperatures, this grade is the preferred choice for furnace parts, heat treatment equipment, and high-temperature industrial piping systems.

The 310 grade contains high levels of chromium (24-26%) and nickel (19-22%), which provide exceptional resistance to scaling at temperatures up to 1100°C (2012°F) under intermittent service and 1150°C (2100°F) under continuous service. This makes SS 310 pipe far superior to standard 304 or 316 grades when heat resistance is the primary requirement.

UNS S31000 is the standard designation for this grade, and ASTM A312 is the governing specification for seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel pipe intended for high-temperature and general corrosive service. Both seamless and welded constructions are available, depending on your application requirements.

Beyond high-temperature performance, SS 310 pipe also offers good resistance to sulfidation and carburization, making it suitable for reducing or oxidizing atmospheres. However, it is important to note that 310 has lower corrosion resistance when exposed to aqueous solutions compared to 316L, so its primary application focus remains thermal.
