XYF Steel Supplies 904L Cold Rolled Stainless Steel Sheets for Aggressive Chemical Processing Environments

XYF Steel today announced regular supply of 904L (UNS N08904) cold rolled stainless steel sheets with 2B finish for the chemical processing, pharmaceutical and fine chemical industries. The sheets are available in thicknesses from 0.5mm to 6.0mm with widths up to 1500mm, fully certified to ASTM A240 / A480.
Grade 904L is a super austenitic stainless steel with high nickel (23-28%), chromium (19-23%), molybdenum (4-5%) and copper (1-2%) content. This alloy design gives 904L outstanding resistance to sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid and acetic acid, as well as excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking. With a pitting resistance equivalent number (PREN) above 34, 904L outperforms standard grades such as 316L in aggressive media.
The chemical processing industry increasingly specifies 904L for equipment handling hot sulfuric acid, fertilizer production streams, pickling baths and seawater-cooled heat exchangers. Cold rolled 2B finish sheets are particularly valued for their smooth, bright surface that reduces fouling and simplifies cleaning in hygienic and process-critical applications.
The low carbon content (max 0.020%) of 904L prevents sensitization during welding, allowing fabricators to weld sheets into tanks, vessels, columns and ducting without losing corrosion resistance at the heat-affected zone.
