Ronde buis van roestvrij staal 2205 is een zeer sterk, zeer corrosiebestendig speciaal buismateriaal. De microstructuur bestaat uit ongeveer 50% ferriet en 50% austeniet in een duplexconfiguratie. Deze unieke microstructuur geeft het bijna tweemaal de vloeisterkte van gewoon roestvrij staal, terwijl het ook een uitstekende weerstand vertoont tegen spanningscorrosie in omgevingen met chloride-ionen.
Vergeleken met austenitisch roestvast staal 304 en 316L is 2205 bestand tegen hogere drukken met dezelfde wanddikte, of zijn dunnere wanddiktes mogelijk om gewichtsvermindering en kostenbesparingen te bereiken, waardoor het een ideaal materiaal is voor industrieën zoals petrochemie, scheepsbouw en papierproductie.
